Welcome to Copper Buttons!

Join us for paper shredding this season!

Location: 7601 E. McKellips Rd, Scottsdale AZ 85257

The Shred Event schedule is finally ready.

All events are on the second Saturday of each month.  7am-10am.

Dates for this year:

2025: Sept 13th, October 11th, November 8th, December 13th.

2026: January 10th, February 14th, March 14th, April 11, May 9th.

Time:  7am-10am.  The events end promptly at 10am to allow volunteers to get home and enjoy their Saturday.

How does it work:
1. Drive up to the event (stay in your vehicle).
2. Tell the attendant how many boxes (banker's size) or paper bag size that you have filled with paper, to be shredded.
3. Pay $5 per box or bag.
4. Drive ahead to the shred trucks, where attendants will unload your vehicle and return your empty boxes. The paper gets shredded on site, right inside the truck.
5. Have a great day!!
Note: The shred trucks are like big garbage trucks, except they have huge shredding teeth that rip and shred the paper as its loaded into the truck. You are welcome to watch your paper as its dumped and shredded.

How does this help the community?

It helps by removing important documents that could be used to steal our identity. Identity theft is still a big deal!!! Also, a large portion of the money raised is sent right back into the community in the form of monetary help to needy people and organizations.
Examples of community assistance: Money was used to build a wheelchair ramp for a senior community member. Money was sent to PD employees who need a boost and money for families who have illnesses. Money was sent to Scottsdale Police Cadets to help with their program.  Plus many other worthy individuals and causes.
People always ask, "Where does the money go?" I try to be very clear with those who question where the money goes. I tell everyone who asks that they are paying for a valuable service, at a very discounted rate. Once the events are complete, we (two retired officers and one still working = Copper Buttons) then have the privilege of deciding who to help and where to send the money. We are just guys trying to do good in the world. We don't have rules. We send the money where our hearts tell us.
Why is it called Copper Buttons? Copper Buttons is a reference to the shiny copper buttons that used to adorn the coats of police officers. Some think the term "cop" is a reference to these buttons. Now you know!

Thank you,

Craig
